Dear Friends & Visitors,

Thank you for visiting the website of the Angelica Patient Assitance Program.

Angelica^s mission is to enhance the lives of economically disadvantaged patients in need of long-term medical care and to support long-term medical care facilities.

We are presently focused on improving the lives of residents at Coler-Goldwater Specialty Hospital and Nursing Facility (CGSHNF) on Roosevelt Island in New York City. CGSHNF is a 2000-bed public hospital that provides medical, sub-acute, rehabilitative and long-term services to residents of New York City and the surrounding communities. Most of the patients reside in the hospital for an extended period of time – in many cases for the rest of their lives. The residents are generally economically disadvantaged individuals with few resources; most have few, if any, regular visitors. As a city hospital, CGSHNF has limited funding and cannot provide for all of the needs and desires of the patients.

The patients range in age from 20 to 60 years old. Patients arrive at the hospital to receive treatment for a variety of medical condition and traumas, such as strokes, spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy and accidental injuries. Many of the patients Angelica serves are paraplegic or quadriplegic.

Our efforts focus both on therapeutic enhancement and improving the overall quality of life of patients at the hospital. Angelica is currently focusing on cultural, educational and social programs at the hospital. These events engage patients’ imaginations, expose them to new ideas and stimulate interaction among fellow residents.

I invite you to explore this website and learn more about Angelica. If you have any interest in becoming involved or supporting Angelica^s mission in any way, please let us know.

Sincerely,

Trisha Duval
